Gordon Bitner Hinckley

President Gordon B. Hinckley, pass away on January 27, 2008 at age 97.

President Hinckley was born in Jun 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He served a missing in London from 1933 to 1935.
President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since March 12 1995.
President Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, died at the age of 97.
Hinckley was known for his acceleration of the building of temples . Before he became president in 1995 there were 47 operating temples in the Church; at the time of his passing, there were 124.
At the time Hinckley became president of the church, he had dedicated 23 of the church's 47 temples and had rededicated four of the remaining 24. While president of the church, Hinckley presided at the dedication of 65 additional temples. Hinckley also rededicated five temples while president of the church, four of which he had dedicated initially. In all, Hinckley dedicated or rededicated 92 different temples — 87 while president of the church — at 97 different dedicatory services.

At a meet some fifteen years ago I was able to stand in the present of President Hinckley and hear Him speak in the Central Point Stake Center to the Leader of the area stake and wards.
I did shake his hand as He was leaving for another meeting, and the impresser of just shaking his hand, is very hard to explain, but for me, it must of been how the Brother of Jared must have felt when He saw the finger of God.
This is not to say that I am as worthy or righteous as Brother of Jared, just how He must of felt.

I will miss President Hinckley.
As He once said, change is good.
